Poker Rhythm

As of late I seem to possess a good poker rhythm. Yesterday in the Oasis "Tournament of Champions" I was fortunate to place fifth after a table chop of seven players. I've been in the money nine out of the last eleven Texas Hold'em no-limit tournaments. I've been lucky, having won my fair share of coin flips and drawing good cards. Good fortune smiled on me yesterday when Becky, a fine player and a friend, called my initial bet and then put me all-in after the flop with my A-10 vs. her Queens and I Rivered an Ace. I doubled up in chips and was in the hunt.

At the final table, with a few chips left in my stack, T.V.Leonard called my raise from the big blind. I had K-10 offsuit, and when he checked on the flop I went all-in on a pure bluff and he capitulated, doubling me up and saving my bacon. My luck has been holding lately, but I also think that some of the changes I've made in my play have been effective. I'm more patient and I rarely use the all-in move early in a tournament unless the size of the pot merits such a play. I see too many people busting out of tournaments with careless moves.

I hope my fortune continues and propels me into the money during the Oasis Open Tournament this week. About two hunderd people are expected for this five-day even, and the competitiion will be fierce, as many tough Vegas poker players willo be playing, as well as players from throughout the West. It should be a real shootout and a great poker event. The side games will be profitable.

I intended to talk about luck vs. skill in this short peice, but I'll save that for later, and just enjoy the way Lady Luck has smiled at me lately. Whoo Hoo! See you at the the table for a friendly game soon!

Thanks for you kind comments Fred. The spring tournament this week will be a doozy. Lots of players and good purses. We'll miss you. I could use an expert Omaha partner. I play at Paradise online under the name of hombreciego. It's a good site and I'm having some success.
